Ground Plane

Ground Plane = 1/4 wave vertical antenna

This simple Ground plane antenna for 2M and one for 70cm were the first ones I build.
As you can see, you don't need a lot of materials, only a PL259 chassis mount and some copper wire.
Cut 5 pieces of the copper wire each with the length of 1/4 wave length.
Solder the 5 pieces to your chassis mount and finished! Arrange the 4 radials so they make a angle of 45° .
To adjust the antenna's SWR you can cut a bit from the vertical wire.
The GP is simple but very effective. I worked a HAM 245KM from my QTH on FM with 5 Watt on 2M
